BEDFORD TOWNSHIP HALL IS NOW A FACILITY FOR ACCEPTING PASSPORT APPLICATIONS!

Hours:  8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday

Bedford Township Hall has been a passport agency since October of 2003.  We are delighted to be able to assist our residents as well as residents of other communities in acquiring a passport so that they can travel abroad.   Currently, a passport is required to travel by air to any country outside of the United States.  For travel by land or sea only, to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean or Bermuda, a “passport card” is now available.  This passport card cannot be used for air travel to any foreign country. 

You can obtain passport applications and information at the following website:  www.travel.state.gov . We also have applications available at the Bedford Township Hall. 

Routine passport applications currently take six to seven weeks to process, or if you need one sooner, an application can be “expedited” which takes two weeks processing time and an additional $60.00 fee over and above the regular fee.

Renewal applications do not require you to apply in person, they may be mailed in by the applicant with the proper information and the $75.00 renewal fee.

The cost for passport books is as follows:

      $75.00 for applicants 16 years or older (receive a 10 year passport)

      $60.00 for applicants 15 years or younger (receive a 5 year passport)

      $25.00 execution fee (retained by the acceptance facility)

      $60.00 expedite fee (over and above the base fee)

      The cost for passport cards is as follows:

      $20.00 for applicants 16 years or older (receive a 10 year passport)

      $10.00 for applicants 15 years or younger (receive a 5 year passport)

      $25.00 execution fee (retained by the acceptance facility)

      $60.00 expedite fee (over and above the base fee)

The application fee must be in the form of a check or money order made out to the U. S. Dept. of State.  The $25.00 execution fee is a separate check (or cash) made out to Bedford Township.

Along with the completed application and fees, you must bring in proof of citizenship (certified copy of your birth certificate or your naturalization papers), proof of identity (drivers license or state ID), and 2 passport photos.  Our office can take passport photos for you at a cost of $10.00.  There are other places that take passport photos, with prices ranging from $8.99 to $15.00.

In addition, for special groups traveling overseas (church groups, high school groups/bands), I will be glad to make arrangements to attend a group meeting to facilitate and assist in processing passport applications.  Please contact me at 847-6791 to make any special arrangements.
