Bedford Township Adopt-A-Road
The Temperance Action Committee (TAC) in an effort to
improve the appearance of downtown Temperance has joined the Monroe County Road
Commission’s Adopt-A-Road Program. Having seen the positive impact this program
provides, TAC has set a goal to have all primary roads within Bedford Township
adopted under this program.
The countywide Adopt-A-Road program is a spin off of
the State’s Adopt-A-Highway program. The focus is to have citizens assist in
keeping our county’s primary roadsides clean & attractive. Participants "adopt"
a 2- mile section of road to clean 3 times a year. Church & school groups, civic
organizations, businesses and individuals are eligible. There is no fee to
participate but you
must have approval from the Monroe County Road Commission and you must review a
safety video. Signs designating the "adopted area" will include the name of the
organization that has adopted that particular section.
As primary overseer of this program, the Monroe County
Road Commission will designate the dates for the clean ups, supply safety vests,
and bags to put the litter in. Following the clean up, they will send out crews
to pick up the bags the groups have left along the roadsides.
TAC in an effort to encourage & facilitate
participation in this program has made available any & all forms needed, along
with copies of the safety video, at the Bedford Township Hall. We look forward
to working alongside our fellow citizens as we strive to keep our community
roadsides clean. Remember, the first impression, which often is a visual one,
can have a lasting impact. Thank you for helping to make our community a special
place in which to live, work & play.
If you or your group chooses to adopt a road call
Donna Richileau at 1-888-354-5500 ext. 5102 or Gail Keane at 847-7965.
